Rooted in knowledge
Talc - Talc is used in a massive amount of products however more and more scientific studies are showing that it is actually a dangerous ingredient. Talc has shown to cause breathing problems and can lead to very serious lung problems, even death.
Canadas law states there should be no more then 2-4% of talc in a product. But when talc is listed as the first, second or third ingredient on the back of the packaging its safe to assume there is far more then 2-4%. Ingredients are listed from the highest measurement of ingredient to the least. Meaning the first and second ingredient makes up most of the product. So if talc is listed as the first or second that means it makes up majority of that product. Giving a high potential for this dangerous product to enter the body by breathing it in when the powder floats into the air when using it. One of the scariest concerns of talc is its contamination of
asbestiform fibers which are cancer causing.
You would be absolutely shocked at which brands and how many brands use talc. Its honesty starting to be hard to find brands and products that don't use talc.
BHT + BHA - Butylated hydroxytoluene is a toluene-based ingredient used as a preservative in food and personal care products. However there is overwhelming evidence showing that this ingredient causes skin irritations and allergies. It has caused respiratory irritation and toxic to human organs and reproductive organs. And in high doses as shown to be tumor forming. This ingredient falls under many names, unfortunately and it ranks rather high on the scale for Allergies & Immunotoxicity.
Again these are two ingredients that are used in so many brands today. Specially drugs store and grocery store brands, we'll be honest the list of brands without BHT & BHA is shorter.
Dimethylol-dimethyl - DMDM hydantoin is a type of formaldehyde-releaser and is a chemical used in a wide range of cosmetic products. It can serve an purpose in preventing the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms, however safety is a concern as it has been linked to Contact dermatitis, Hair loss, Cancer and Infertility.
Oxybenzone - Oxybenzone is a sunscreen ingredient associated with photoallergic reactions. This chemical absorbs through the skin in significant amounts. It contaminates the bodies of 97% of Americans according to Centers for Disease Control research. I has been found to cause Allergies/immunotoxicity. 1

Phenoxyethanol - Phenoxyethanol used as a preservative in cosmetic products and also as a stabilizer in perfumes and soaps. Exposure to phenoxyethanol has been linked to reactions ranging from eczema to severe, life-threatening allergic reactions. Infant oral exposure to phenoxyethanol can acutely affect nervous system function. In over 3000 well known face creams and washes. Like Burts bees, Bubble, Cera Ve, Simple, Aveeno, The Ordinary

Zinc
This is one of those versatile ingredients that excel in various aspects. It averts clogged pores by regulating the production of keratinocytes, which, when produced excessively, can lead to blocked pores and acne. Zinc effectively manages this process, reducing the likelihood of dirt buildup in pores.
Moreover, it ensures skin remains moisturized and hydrated, a crucial consideration as the body's natural moisture decreases with age. Zinc plays a role in preventing and minimizing trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) from the skin, making it particularly beneficial for individuals with dry skin.

Additionally, it serves as a protective shield against photoaging. The sun's rays can induce hyperpigmentation and dark spots, but fear not – Zinc oxide (ZnO) has the ability to guard against these effects. Look for sunscreens containing zinc to provide protection against both UVA and UVB radiations.

One of the primary advantages of grapeseed oil is its high content of linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid that aids in controlling acne by reducing clogged pores. Acne-prone skin is often deficient in linoleic acid, and incorporating more of this fatty acid through grapeseed oil application can help minimize breakouts. Grapeseed oil is also abundant in other beneficial compounds such as beta-carotene, vitamins D, C, E, and polyphenols. These components boast potent antioxidant properties, providing a shield against the potential damage caused by UV rays and other environmental stressors.
Another significant benefit of grapeseed oil lies in its antimicrobial properties, making it an excellent ally in the battle against breakouts.
